A few months ago, I was talking to Matthew Porter of Contegix about the need for Cloud user groups in St. Louis. Believe it or not, there’s a lot of tech going on in St. Louis – but there’s not a lot of interaction between folks that are building and deploying cloud services.
That needs to change, so Matthew, Sam Charrington and I met yesterday to talk about kickstarting a cloud developer and user group. The idea is to bring together developers, admins, and anyone else with a strong interest infrastructure clouds (IaaS and PaaS) to talk about how they’re building out cloud services and learn from each others’ experiences.
We’re going to use Meetup to organize the meetings. The first meeting will be on August 23rd, and we’ll feature a speaker from Contegix to talk about what they’ve learned in building out a public cloud (MiraCloud). We have some other topics in mind, but we’ll also use the first meeting to get feedback from the attendees and see what they (you) are interested in talking about.
Sound interesting? Join us on August 23rd and let’s get this group going! (Have questions? Shoot me an email: jzb at this domain.)
