Today was day two of openSUSE Community Week, and we had a lot of great sessions, good discussions, and an all-around good day.
Well, except for the wiki downtime, which was a bit of a problem but should be sorted out for the rest of the week and we’re in the process of sorting out permanently.
Checking into the various rooms for Community Week, it looked like attendance was up across the board as much as 50% in some cases. One of the most important things, in my opinion anyway, is that we
Spent a big part of the day in Freenode in the #opensuse-wiki and #opensuse-marketing channels. The marketing session generated some good feedback, though we didn’t get terribly far in actually putting together the 11.2 launch plan. The wiki session, likewise, was good in generating ideas. Attendance was not too bad – about 20 people between the sessions, and some folks in both.
A couple of ideas for running sessions in the future:
- Have a more firm agenda handy for guiding discussion.
- Pull together prepared text so if you’re running the session, you’re not typing in real time.
- Put together a short pre-session text that participants can read so that everybody’s on the same page when participating in the real-time session.
Other suggestions for running IRC meetings effectively?
