Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this… I’m using KMail for a GMail account to get mail via IMAP. At least two or three times a day, I have to restart KMail because it just hangs trying to refresh folders via IMAP.
Anyone else seeing this issue? And, does anyone know if this is common with KMail and IMAP, or is it maybe a problem with the way that GMail does IMAP? Anything I can do to remedy this?
Aside from that annoyance (and it is primarily an annoyance) I’m enjoying using KMail. I’d like to iron that little glitch out.
Also — wishlist item for you rockstars that work on KMail, Akregator, Kontact, and BasKet — I’d love to be able to just drag an email or article from Akregator into my Journal and have the body of the email or article sucked in.
Whoa! It looks different around here again! I like this design a little better, but for a second it was like wandering into the wrong office by accident.
I’m getting along very well with my GMail account using IMAP in KMail. The OS is Fedora 8 KDE. If you can describe your problem with more details, there should be some readers trying to help you
using Evolution – gmail IMAP – works fine for me
both sending and recieving
Hey, I have the same problem with Gmail + IMAP in kmail. The “inbox” folder doesn’t refresh properly, but I notice that the “All Mail” folder refreshes.
Weird!
Same here:
Using Kontact 1.2.9 and Kmail 1.9.9 on NetBSD Current
The “All Mail” folder refreshes, but sometimes it ‘hangs’ like the inbox folder
Did you learn any more about this Gmail + IMAP problem in kmail? I have the latest version of kmail and still see the problem.
I used to get lots of disconnects and kmail hanging, but it all went away when I unsubscribed the [Gmail]/All Mail folder. I have a a few thousand emails archived under All Mail, and I guess it was making every mail check very slow.
Thanks TR that did the trick for me too – right click allmail and under properties untick the check mail – problem seems to be solved… thanks
