A few weeks ago I took a trip to Micro Center to see what kind of options one might have for purchasing a machine with Linux pre-installed. Unfortunately, the pickings are rather slim. I’ve written up a short piece over on NewsForge about the unfortunate situation.
It’s too bad that it’s still so hard to find Linux pre-installed on a desktop system. It seems that the choices available to most users are either Intel-based hardware with a buggy and insecure OS, or over-priced Intel-based hardware with Mac OS X installed. Sigh.
